VARPG works on Win 7 pcs. I remember it was a pain to install but we were finally able to get it to work. I believe we had to install it from the web sphere disks and as the windows administrator. You know "RUN AS" by right clicking on the .exe install program from the disk.

VARPG will not work on a Windows 7 PC. When I upgraded my PC at work, I was unable to install the development environment and none of the applications I developed with it will install.

On the IBM i 6.1 Info Center I noticed VisualAge is apparently still supported. I'm curious to know what kind of business solutions people may be currently using this for. How does it compare/contrast with EGL ? My assumption is Visual Basic, C# and .Net would be a better set of tools.
