They are actually using our RPG2SQL product and they want to pass a NULL value TO one of the parameter values in the stored procedure from the RPG app.

We have a procedure for passing parm data to stored procedures.

The call is from the iSeries via our service program to our PC component which live on a Windows server and does the actual DB connectivity.

subject: Re: Passing equivalent of VB value vbNull in an RPG Program

Are you saying that this value is being passed in a stored procedure call from the PC side? If yes, if the field is null, the OS always passes the null as a 0 or 1 flag.

Just curious if anyone can answer this with certainty before I
research more.

Have an RPG field as such to represent Null value:
D Null S 1A Inz(X'00')

Customer needs to pass this value to an API call in one of our service
programs and it goes thru EBCDIC to ASCII translation.

Anyone know if this actually translates to an appropriate PC null value ?

If not, do you know what character might translate to vbNull.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
