Thank you Pete,

I'm changing to V7 next month und have a lot to do, but the first thing I'm
gone do after is to give RRE a Try.

So if you don't hear of me, this means I'm busy.

Any how I will write you my experience in Jan. 2012.

Once again thank you very much.

Just an update on this....

I threw together some hosting that has the petesworkshop.com site up and
running. I don't know what the download speeds will be like but you are
welcome to try. Again, this release has Jasper Reports fully supported
but there are instructions in the Readme on how to add BIRT support
(basically download it and then include it in the classpath).

No guarantees but with a new job and location, this is the best I can do
for now.

Paul,

I put together an open source project called the RPG Report Engine (RRE)
that I have been hosting (but the site is down while I have been
relocating to Texas). It should be back up next week but if you want to
contact me offlist, I can send you the source. Basically, it uses
techniques that both Scott Klement and Aaron Bartell (and a host of
other folks on the list) use to call Java code from RPG. There are lots
of good examples around. I originally had both Birt and Jasper Reports
support in RRE but pulled the Birt piece due to lack of interest and
bloat in the Birt code base. But I still have the old version that
allows for calls to either BIRT or Jasper reports (based on older
versions of each).

Hello

As our move to full Java is going to take some time we would I would
like to know if anybody has had any experience in executing a Birt
Report from a RPG batch programme. Is calling/using a web service the
way to go ? How is it best to pass any eventual parameters from RPG to
Birt ?

Thanks in anticpation
