Well, I suppose the obvious issue is that you don't want to do that if
there's any chance you need to use both of the records at the same
time. ;)

That's a lot of indicators to be using if you're even close to running
out, though. Do you have a lot of subfiles? I haven't done much
display programming in ages myself, but I do remember that most of the
programs I worked on didn't need multiple indicators for SFLDSP and
SFLCLR (one was always the opposite of the other, so a single
indicator sufficed for both) and SFLDSPCTL was not conditioned at all.
So if you are using subfiles in a fairly basic way but with multiple
indicators, you might be able to reclaim some of them there.
