Indeed! Very nice - another item in the toolkit!

Now to wake up!

I don't think that will work - it puts 6 zeroes ahead of the trimmed
value - OP wants the result to be 6 long, so a %subst of '000000' of
length equal to the length of a %triml of leading zeroes of fielda is
needed - hope I described that closely enough

You can do this without any decimal conversion.
EVALR field_b = '000000' + %TRIM(field_a);

Subject: Right adjust zero fill character field

All,
I am having a brain freeze moment today.
I have a 20 byte character field that will contain up to 6 bytes of data
left adjusted.
I need to take the data from the first field and load it to a 6 byte
field padded with leading zeros.
ie: field a = '1234 '
I want field b to be '001234'

when field a = '12345'
field b = '012345;

Thanks,
