I think Jerry is saying that the QS36F library is the same as any other
library. While it may be traditionally used with file created by the
S/36 BLDFILE procedure (and similar tools) that's just a convention, not
a requirement of that library.
You can use DDS and CRTPF, or SQL and CREATE TABLE to generate files in
QS36F as well. And when you do, they work exactly the same in QS36F as
they do elsewhere.
Likewise, you can use the S/36 FLIB procedure together with the BLDFILE
procedure to create S/36-style files in /any/ library on the system.
So when you refer to SQL (or 4GLs like EGL) accessing data in QS36F, you
aren't being totally accurate. What you're really asking about is SQL
accessing flat files, or files created via the S/36 commands. Whether it
is in QS36F is not germaine to the questions you're asking.
We all know what you mean. I think Jerry was just pointing that
technicality out.
