Y'all - when you compile your SQLRPGLE source, check the compile listing. Lots of the host variables and all are defined in I-specs, as I recall. These will not be local. But see if stuff is defined in local procedures - that'll tell you what is going on.

It'll also have somewhat to say toward whether some things are possible to support as it is now.

It appears host variables in subprocedures are local,
but I see the following when attempting a compile with
the same cursor name declared in two subprocedures:

5770ST1 V7R1M0 100416 Create SQL ILE RPG Object IMPORTSKU9
10/21/11 09:42:38
924 C+ DECLARE ia_Csr2 CURSOR FOR s2 92300
10/18/11
489 EXEC SQL DELETE FROM IMP_ARTICOLI; 048900 10/14/11
DIAGNOSTIC MESSAGES
MSG ID SEV RECORD TEXT
SQL0051 30 924 Position 17 Cursor or procedure IA_CSR2 previously

declared.
