It depends on the behavior you want...

With STRCMTCTL LCKLVL(*CHG) having COMMIT on the input only files
makes no difference...

With LCKLVL(*CS), a record read will be locked until the next record
is read or the tansaction is committed/rolled back...

With LCKLVL(*ALL), all records read are locked till the transaction is
committed/rolled back

Take a look here:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/rzakj/rzakjlocklevel.htm

This is known as "transaction isolation", it's usually thought of as
an SQL thing but it does apply to RPG RLA...
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/iseries/v5r4/topic/db2/rbafzmstisol.htm

(note: *CHG = *UR, *ALL = *RS, *CS = *CS)

The data for the deleted record will be in ORrecord.

I posted this on Midrange-L yesterday, but have not had a response so
thought I may get more from this side of things.
We have used the trigger program below to do some very simple trigger
stuff. Now I need to make it a bit more complicated & have some questions
before I screw it up. I have one ancillary file in the program currently
& I now need to have a few more. Do I define the other files with the
Commit(RunCommit)? They will only be used for input if that makes any
difference. I also need to track deletes, so will the information on the
record being deleted be stored in the ORrecord or the NWrecord?

Thanks in advance.
