I am trying to use a program on a V5R1 system that I wrote and used for
years on a V5R4 system. However, during the compile I get an error:

RNF0327 30 2 The first parameter for %DEC or %DECH is not valid.

The line in error is:
work150 = %dec(value:15:0);
value is defined as 15a.
work150 is defined as 15p 0 decimals.

From the V5R2 RPG Reference manual in the, "What's New at V5R2" section.
"Built-in functions %DEC, %DECH, %INT, %INTH, %UNS, %UNSH and
%FLOAT are enhanced to allow character parameters." So, %DEC does not handle character parameters at V5R1.

Brian Parkins.
