Hi Sam

That's about what it looked like, too. The 3 major vendors that are writing apps with it have customers that might not show up here much - we've never heard anyone talk here much about Profound Logic's RPG Smart Pages, e.g., or ASNA's or lookSoftware's modernization stuff. I think that's because this is a DIY list in the majority - at least, that's my impression.

It is still somewhat difficult for the list's habitues to get into using OA for their own development. If your company hasn't bought into it, you have to become a partner with IBM and use a virtual loaner box or get a box through the lease/discount program (North America only?), or you have to sign up at idevcloud.com.

It'd be cool if IBM were to open the virtual loaner program to non-partners - it's a great program and really amounts to a system-as-a-service kind of cloud offering.

Anyhow, that's what I see from my IBM partner chair. Standard customers will still have the hardest time with adopting this on their own.

Profound Logic is giving a session at COMMON this year - might be worth a listen as to their experience, and one could ask how many customers they have.

I'm replying to myself to summarize the response as I see it.

It looks like only a couple of folk on the list are actively using RPG
OA, one doing an evaluation and one actively using it in a project with
a 3rd party handler.

I thought more people might be using it by now.

Thanks for your responses.

RPG OA came out with a bang a year ago, and several vendors announced
tools, some of which looked very good. But it seems to have been
relatively quiet since. (Not to disparage articles by several people on
the list and discussions here...)

But has there been any adoption of RPG OA and the 3rd party vendor
handlers and tools? Is there a market developing that will sustain the
vendors? Anyone actually using a 3rd party handler, or even installed
one for evaluation?
