I think Birgitta means that the original RPGIII had the CLEAR opcode and it
was retained in the converted source, but acts differently. She indicates a
difference in treatment of the free-form CLEAR and the fixed format CLEAR,
or a difference between the RPGIII and ILE compilers, not sure which it'd
be.

Birgitta, try a fixed format CLEAR in the middle of your free specs just for
the heck of it and see if that results in a "usage" of the indicator. If
that works it seems to be a difference between fixed and free behaviour.

Birgitta,

That's interesting. I'm running WDSc 7.0 and EVAL *INxx = *OFF gets
translated to *INxx = *OFF (loses the eval). MOVE does not get translated.
Which version of WDSc are you running?

Hi guys,

Bug or feature?

Someone already encountered this:

An old RPG (written in fixed format RPG) with display file was converted
into Free-Format (with WDSC/RSE/RDi).
Instead of specifying MOVE *OFF *INxx (or EVAL *INxx = *OFF) the Opcode
CLEAR was used.
Before changing to free format, the program was compiled and could be run
without problems.

But after conversion to free format, we got compile errors, because only
indicators that are set (with EVAL or MOVE) can be cleared.
Indicators that are only cleared but never moved *ON or *OFF cause an
RNF7030 Error.

Shall we open an PMR?
(Our test machine is Release V5R4!)
