David, are you saying that you got an RPG inquiry message for an error in a linear main program? That's not supposed to happen. The RPG inquiry messages are issued by the "Default Error Handler" which is only in effect for cycle-main procedures.

If the 'G' was for an inquiry message put up by a CL program and it called your linear main program, then it's a different story. In that case, the linear main program would start again, at the beginning of the main procedure.

If the G' was for an inquiry message put up by another RPG cycle-program that called your linear main program, then Vern's (and my) concern about the 'G' response still stands for that other program.

In any case, ou may need to add some exception handling or cancel handling to your linear main program so it can close files etc. no matter how it ends.
