Just to be clear, it would only be N if the last digit was 5 and the value was negative. In that case, the last zoned byte would be x'D5' which happens to be the hex value for 'N'.

If the zoned value is negative, here's what the last character would be for each possible final digit in the zoned value.

1: J 6: O
2: K 7: P
3: L 8: Q
4: M 9: R
5: N 0: }
