I agree with your comment...

However, the link to the Wikipedia Coupling article was broken in the
message I received (the closing parentheses was not part of the clickable
link).

I have found that by surrounding the URL with angle brackets < > that most
email clients/newsreaders will display the URL properly as a clickable
link - so nowadays, unless I use TinyURL to create a short link, I will post
it in this fashion:

<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coupling_(computer_science)>
