Blocking may be an "extension" of the DBMS but it is still the DBMS. The HLL buffer only gets loaded with one record at a time,
from the ODP, which may contain a block of records.

If you could force a table, with an active trigger attached, it would still have to fire the trigger at each individual I/O, otherwise your DB wouldn't be in a consistent state.

That reads a little strange, but if I'm reading it right, no it
wouldn't. If the DBMS was doing the buffering it wouldn't matter.
Since the data is outside the DBMS, yes it would be a problem if the
system allowed records to be buffered when the file has a trigger
attached (or a unique key somewhere). Which is why it doesn't allow
it and throws the CPF4028 message mentioned previously.

If you don't think of the buffering as being done outside the DBMS,
then you're saying that a record can be sent to the DB, yet not show
anywhere....
