I guess your first comment points to Gary's situation, since we already work
in a full free format and ILE environment....;-)

For the case with Linoma's converter I have to correct myself a little after
searching our archive. There was a minor problem that it did not convert
subroutines to procedures when they were already written in free. So we had
to workaround that.
We did not experience problems with MOVE conversion. But another problem
that occurred was with the space reservation for some packed fields from
DDS in a datastructure. We could also workaround that issue.
After all, it did a very good job, and if I had to do the conversion again,
I would use Linoma's converter again.

I think you spelled out the business reasons for your current situation,
which are quite sound.

Was it the problem with the mixing of code the MOVE opcode - which is
seen in a lot of older date routines? There is no equivalent /Free
syntax.

. . . not mix free and fixed code in one source. I don't recall what
it was, but we ran into conversion problems when we > converted such
mixed sources. It was not difficult to fix, but we had to make
workarounds for it.
