I'm a bit confused Booth because the structure you show below has zero relationship to the one you pulled from the manual since that is using the overlay technique. Also the use of QUALIFIED has no connection so ...

But the simple answer is that it won't work. You have created 7 _separate_ arrays - one after the other in memory. If you want to associate them then you need to do it like this:

D ArSfl ds qualified
D Array dim(300)
D ArField1 like(Field1) overlay(Array)
D ArField2 like(Field2) overlay(Array: *next)
D ArField3 like(Field3) overlay(Array: *next)
D ...

If you do this then the answer is Yes - a SORTA will indeed "carry" the other fields in the group with it.

When you get to V7 it is easier as you can use SORTA on DS arrays so you can do this:

D ArSfl ds qualified dim(300)
D ArField1 like(Field1)
D ArField2 like(Field2)
D ArField3 like(Field3)
