Hi, Dave:

Issue a DSPFD for this file, and page down to see what the "Maximum record wait time" is set to for the file.

You could change it with the CHGPF command, e.g.

CHGPF FILE(library/filename) WAITRCD(10)

if you want to change it to 10 seconds.

You might need to consider the possible impact of this change on all of your applications that use this file and update records in this file.

HTH,

Mark

Greetings,

I have a routine to check to see if a record is locked in a file. It
works but takes about 30 seconds before it returns with the results that
the record is locked. Is there anything that I can do, either in the RPG
or CL program that calls the RPG to get a faster determination that the
record is locked? Thanks.

Chain(E) CHGKEY NSCHGRQFL1;
If %Status = 1218;
XMSG = 'Record in use';
Else;

EndIf;
