The IBM Academic Initiative is targeted in a way to help on this front, but unfortunately by the time folks enter college they have been running Windows/Linux/Mac OS and so they naturally gravitate that direction (my son thinks the i is cool, but where he works is a Windows/Linux shop so he doesn't get much exposure to IBM i or RPG).

We need a couple of large, solid business cases that promote the strengths of the i. I work with K-12 education (mostly) and the customers I had that have migrated to Windows world are struggling to maintain the server farms that they have on shrinking budgets. The 2 and 3 person shops that manage hundreds of users 24/7/365 on the i don't get much air time....
