A zero error number means it worked. If it is < zero then it is an
error.

Is the file name including path information? If it is, you have a
different problem since the C side needs 'abc/123' sent as 'abc//123'.

I have several routines that rename files in the IFS and none of them
use null terminators.

Nope, that's not it. I still get a zero error number and 'There is no
error' text.

Don't the strings need to be null terminated? That's why I added the
null to the end.

I don't add the x'00' to the file name.

I use it like this:

RtnCode = Rename(%TrimR(Oldfile) :%TrimR(NewName));
