Thanks, Gina

This is the kind of thing that should have gone to IBM support in the first place - if a compile works at one release and not at another, this list can't answer that easily, unless someone just happened to run into the problem.

So this was a problem with IBM products - therefore, call or contact IBM support - they'd have found the same thing, just as Gina did - and much more quickly.

As helpful as this list is, it's rarely my first choice when something seems wrong with an IBM product - especially of a "regression" nature as this is.

subject: SQLRPGLE compiles on V5R4 but not on V6R1

Hi,

We are migrating to V6R1 and a coworker says this code compiles on the
V5R4
box but not on the new one.

SQL0312 Variable wVar not defined or not usable.

P MyProc B
D Parm1 LIKE ( A field in a file declared in the F Specs ) CONST

D wVar S LIKE ( Parm1 )

/FREE
EXEC SQL
SELECT MyField INTO : wVar FROM MyTable
WHERE etc...;

To fix it, wVar was coded like this :
D wVar S LIKE ( A subfield of a global DS )

Any ideas? Thanks.
