My guess would be that the overhead would come when using the %date() bif
for working with the date data if you need to be comparing back and forth
between decimal and pure dates. I've read that %date() has significant
overhead. Can't remember where I read it now, it is just something that I
seem to *remember*. So if this isn't true, someone please correct me...

I use %date() a lot because our db is decimal dates and I refuse to date
processing without using native %date() bifs :D Its so much cleaner.
