I down-loaded the side-by-side subfile example created by
Kevin Vandever (http://www.itjungle.com/mpo/mpo101002-story02.html)
as it seemed to fit a business function I need to develop. In essence, in the left
side window I need to allow a user to view postcodes/zip codes (I’m in Australia) and to select a post code
which will then display all the suburbs that that postcode covers. The user then selects one or more postcodes in
order to mark some business data. Postcodes
in Australia can cover a large geographical area, and I have found a number
which have over 50 suburbs.

At the same time I
need to allow the user to enter some other details in a header record above the
two subfile windows. The example code actually names this record HEADER. The
example code allows either window to have ‘focus’ by using a function key to
flip-flop between the two windows. My question is……….how can I determine if a
user has entered data in the Header record, as well as the subfile window which
currently has focus? I have other
solutions using cascading windows, but I’m now just curious as to whether it
can be done, and if so, how, as I always thought that only one exfmt can be
extant at any one time.

Thanks in advance.

Regards, Mike Pantzopoulos
