From: Taylor iSeries
Today, IBM refuses to simplify development on the iSeries, Series i,
(whatever it is currently called) because it would undermine their plan
of taking over a company's services. Any comments??

IBM is such a large and diverse organization that you will find all kinds of agendas - including hidden agendas to undermine the IBM i platform, for example. But I wouldn't go so far as saying that they deliberately make things hard for developers - since that makes things hard for themselves.

Regarding IBM having a hidden agenda to take over services, we've seen a lot of evidence of that in their acquisition of companies that specialize in business analytics, document management, and many other application areas which were traditionally served by in-house developers and smaller ISVs. I think I see your point; kind of.
