Rick something to point out, when "the system handles the scrolling"
it's actually the 5250 terminal, or now-a-days the terminal emulation
software, handling the scrolling.

In other words, given for example a load all subfile, the user can
scroll backwards and forwards all day long without the System i doing
anything at all other than the initial load.  The 5250 terminal is
doing all the work involved in the scrolling.

So, to summarize, no one knows of any reason why scrolling within a subfile would be faster if handled by the programmer in the RPG code instead of letting the system handle the scrolling.  The only performance issues mentioned were those of populating a subfile with a large data set all at once instead of incrementally as the need arises.
