Ahhh...that makes some sense then. FTP though Frame Relay means (I would
assume) that you can use standard FTP over a Frame Relay connection because
that's a dedicated line between you and the other side. sFTP would be used
over the Internet. Though I would think any financial entity would want
stuff encrypted regardless of the connection type. I use sFTP over an
Internet connection to one financial institution, and use sFTP with
encrypted data over a Frame Relay connection to a different institution.

Frame Relay is a WAN networking protocol. It would be analogous to dial-up
or leased line. I don't know why Frame Relay or Secure FTP would be a
choice...they're not the same thing.

Anyway, sFTP is relatively easy to implement on the iSeries. Search the
archives - there's been good discussion about setting up sFTP.

FTPAPI would not be used for sFTP. You would script your puts and gets.

SSL (aka FTPS) but my project calls for FTP using SSH (SFTP). The vendor
documentation suggests as examples OpenSSH or PuTTY.

I'm new to all this as well, having only done "regular" FTP from the

AS/400

/ iSeries.
I only know that I cannot use the method that's already been used here,
FTPS.

What does "Frame Relay" mean? Is that a viable alternative for an

AS/400?

If that's not a viable solution, will FTPAPI help me for doing SFTP on

the

AS/400?
