Totally agreed, I don't want overloading per se, just a way to make it
easier and more reliable to code in our hostile environment.

I think that full overloading support would deter from the simplicity
and straightforwardness of RPG. We have enough with pointer support =)

Overloading is one way Jose, however, instead of CONST, VALUE and the
default of by reference, wouldn't another possibility (at least in this
case) is some hybrid of those? If IBM could derive something like that
would that work for, oh let's say, 10% of the times that someone wants
overloading? This would definitely be a productivity boost over coding
overloading for such a simple example.
