Hi Birgitta

Yes, I use that wizard all the time - it does most of what I want, although I'd love if the comment headers used the // comment format. I might also appreciate a name for the return value that I can specify, instead of always being the variable that the wizard provides - I like self-documenting names, and returnvar or whatever doesn't do that well enough, seems to me.

To respond to the question in another post about why the PR B and PR E specs were necessary - seems to me that bracketing a procedure was not possible withouth them unless the entire language were free-form. These HAD to be fixed-form specs in the current structure of RPGLE. A suitable substitute might be a begpr and endpr body, similar to begsr and endsr. And it'd need some way to define the parameters and return, which could be done. This is just speculation early on a Monday for me, of course.

Regards
Vern

Just use the wizard in WDSC/RDi to create a new procedure and it will
generate Prototype, Begin-P/End-P, Procedure Interface, Return value and
/FREE and /End-Free automatically.

What really clutters the code today (and that makes me file crappy-ish) is
the constant "/FREE" and "/END-FREE" lines. It will be a good day when those
are gone.

Also agreed: It is better to do without the "dcl" for other declarative.
