Hi all,

I'm a bit stumped as to why I am experiencing the following problem.

Usually when I display a subfile to the screen I will use the following
record formarts:

HEADER

SUBCTL1

SUBFILE1

FOOTER

The SUBCTL1 record format will contain the OVERLAY keyword to ensure it
doesn't overwrite the FOOTER record when EXFMT is called.

The problem I am having is when I use the same DDS design in a window.
If I'm using the following record formats:

WINDOW

SUBCTL1 (Ref: WINDOW)

SUBFILE1

FOOTER (Ref: WINDOW)

DUMMY

The DUMMY record format contains the ASSUME keyword, the WINDOW format
the KEEP keyword and again the SUBCTL1 keyword the OVERLAY keyword. The
problem is that when I clear the entire subfile by writing to the
SUBCTL1 record with the SFLCLR keyword enabled and then call a EXFMT on
the SUBCTL1 record to display the window again and the empty subfile the
previous subfile records remain on the screen. They are not active in
anyway as the cursor will not position to any of the input fields in the
subfile and will act as if the display has been successfully cleared. I
am using the exact same code as when the subfile is displayed on the
screen as opposed to a window which works perfectly.

If I remove the OVERLAY keyword from the SUBCTL1 record then the subfile
clears properly using the exact same code. Of course this means the
FOOTER record does not display. Does anyone know why having the OVERLAY
keyword on a subfile control record when it is in a window will cause
the subfile to not display properly when it is cleared?

Regards,

Steve
