Yes, unfortunately, it's true that %ELEM only works with simple-qualified names.

There are two ways to get around this.

1. Define a named constant with the number of elements, and use it for the DIM keyword, and use it instead of %ELEM.

2. Use the array from the base structure as the parameter for %ELEM.
