Are you saying that you are trying to execute this statement within the
interactive SQL interpreter (STRSQL) ?
If not, please explain further.

You can't use host variables within STRSQL, since it has no way of prompting
you for the host variable values, but you could put the SQL into a source
file, replace the colons with ampersands, and compile it to a QM Query with
CRTQMQRY and run it with STRQMQRY to test it...
