I'm suprised by that, Joep. It wasn't even considered. When I get to installing in our pre-production environment, it will be interesting to recompile my program with *NEW and see what happens.

What is the problem with reopening files? Performance? If so,
have you actually tried it? Keeping files open for
performance reasons might have had its use in the days of the
S/38 and possibly early AS/400's, but these days it is more
trouble than it's worth.
