It's been ages since I used a PSSR routine. Never liked them.

May I suggest looking into the MONITOR op-code? One can be a lot more specific as far as what to do on-error, rather than generic like PSSR, and, thus, gives you more control.

But, then, you didn't say what kind of error you wanted to trap.

John,
The *PSSR will only be called by the system when a program exception error occurs.
You can put any code in it that you want to execute when that happens.
If you are using the cycle, you can specify a return point within the cycle to continue processing at after the error, but I would not recommend it.
Normally, this routine will only be called when a severe unrecoverable error occurs.

The INFSR subroutine has the same purpose as the *PSSR, but is only called when a severe exception condition occurs for the file it is specified for.
You would put whatever code you needed to trap the error information and soft end the program rather than have the user see a CPF message.

List,

I researched this in the archives and found lots of
suggestions, but unfortunately I've never coded a *PSSR or used an
INFSR. Could someone just post a small snippet of code or tell me where
I need to put the INFSR? I couldn't get the *PSSR to get called. So any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks much!
