Yes, it's an RPG program.

Here is the basic outline:
Two files created and mapped (via ODBC) to WorldShip. One file for open
orders so the shipper does not have to hand type everything and one file
that is mapped for the package detail after the package has been shipped.

So, the shipper enters in an order number which will (all on the UPS
WorldShip side) fill the screen with the data from the first file. (There is
some mapping that needs to be done, but UPS can point you where that is.)

After the package is process (or at day end) the package detail is then
export to the second file.

Once the data is writen to the export file (file two) you can process it
anyway you would like.

Does that help? Basically it's all in the mapping via ODBC. UPS has does a
pretty good job with this. I will say the UPS person that will come out will
probably be confused on what an i is and how to map to it, but I'm sure you
can (maybe already know) do that.

Thanks James. Question: Is the separate program that processing the
file,as you have mentioned in the email, a RPG program? If so, what
method is it using to talk to worldship?

Yes, I've done it a few times.

Generally I create a file that I can map to WorldShip. I then create a
separate program to process the file and update any existing files you
need.

Let me know if you need any more detail.

does anyone know if it is possible to integrate in-house RPG

with UPS worldship application? If so, is it pretty simply and
reliable?

thanks
