The issue is that the error is caught via QSYSOPR *before* it returns up the
stack to my program and the way the program continues is by having the
operator give the job a 'G' (or 'C' if they want it to stop).

Not saying it wouldn't be what you are suggesting and I will probably try
that once other avenues have been exhausted.
