Thanks Rob, it looks like I jumped the gun.

First
WRKOBJ MYDSPF
Is there more than one lying around?

Next,
DSPFD MYDSPF
record "File level identifier"
Record each Format and it's Identifier.

Then
WRKOBJ MYMOD
Is there more than one lying around?
DSPMOD NEWMOD
Record Module create date and time.

Then
WRKOBJ NEWPGM
Is there more than one lying around?
DSPPGM PGM(NEWPGM) DETAIL(*MODULE)
Record "Module creation date/time"
Does that match the module above?

Then
DSPPGMREF NEWPGM
Record the Format Level Identifiers.
Do they match what DSPFD showed?

Subject
UPDPGM did not update file level identifiers (6.1)

I changed and compiled a display file, compiled the module
that uses the display file, then UPDPGM the program with the
new module. When I run the program I get a level check
(CPF4131) on the display file.

I've checked the manuals (V5R4 - the updpgm page is 404 for
6.1), and I have not had this problem before, we just
upgraded to 6.1 last week and I am told we are up to date on PTFs.

The manual mentions that the updating module's library, if
different from the library used on the CRTPGM, is not used to
update the program object's reference to the original
library. Even with this I would still expect the UPDPGM to
update the file level identifiers in the program object.

Before I go through the arduous internal process of opening a
PMR, does anyone know if UPDPGM should update the file level
identifiers in the program object?

Thanks
Duane Christen
