Vern,

Hmmm, as long as I don't alter any vendor's agreements or put any SQLRPG
into production I suppose it wouldn't _technically_ be a violation...

My goal is to educate myself on some of the newer techniques while keeping
one foot on familiar ground: the midrange. After 20 months and well over a
million in development, it is starting to look like the corporate IT folks
are getting close to a replacement for this legacy system so I need to start
doing more than just reading articles.

If you want to learn some things and also get a result set, you can
install 5722ST1 and use it for 70 days without any problem. You do not
need it to RUN the program, just to create it in the first place. There'e
probably not a question of maintenance if the machine - sigh - is going
away.

Subject: Creating SQL result set in RPG without 5722ST1

All,

Am experimenting with the excellent "RPG to the Web" articles published
earlier this year by SK and have run into a slight problem in that our
shop does not have
5722ST1 SQL Developer Kit so it isn't possible for me to compile SQLRPG.

I've had success in the past using QSQPRCED and SQL CLI to prepare and
execute SQL statements from RPG, but this is the first time I've needed
to create and return a result set. Presumably there are one or more API
calls that simulate "SET RESULT SETS" but my inexperience is showing as
I cannot put all the pieces together.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Unfortunately, purchasing
5722ST1 isn't an option here - our iSeries shop is in the process of
being replaced by a 'nix system and I am specifically disallowed from
purchasing or installing any additional software during the process. All
education is on my dime and spare time...

Many thanks, JK
