I looked, as well - have used CLI in some of our products.

I see only consumption of result sets in the CLI manual.

Now there IS the SET RESULT SETS statement - not sure what would happen with that - there are some statements about the use of that. CLI is also described as always dynamic.

Now the SQL Reference does say, if a cursor is left open, then you automagically have a result set - not sure if this applies if you open a cursor with CLI. You do have all those handles you are supposed to close!!!

Just thinking at the end of the day!

If I thought that I'd say so. I'm not sure. I know SQL CLI can
process result sets. I thought it could create them (in the specific
sense we're using here rather than the generic "SQL queries create
result sets" interpretation). Because you were so emphatic about CLI
not supporting them I went looking for the specific reference. If
it's documented as not possible then I won't waste time on it but if
it's not then I have some ideas that might allow it--not sure though
never done this in CLI. Have proved other things possible that
supposedly greater minds said were not.
