Right - and you can't have an ORDER BY in a view, the last I remember - you can in mySQL, by the way - don't know if that is SQL standard - MySQL adds lots of their own stuff. As do all the RDBMS'. And more recent releases of OS/400 might allow it.

Well, no. SQL cannot index a virtual table, only a physical file (PF). A view
will use any index over the source PF that the optimizer wants to use. You must
specify the order by in the select statement that is accessing the view.
