RPG is inferior to Java and C# because of memory leaks,

Memory leaks? What memory leaks? I don't know how to create a RPG
program with a memory leak. I figure someone like Joe P or Elvis B
could, but I suspect they would have to work at it.

Of course you do. Whenever you use ALLOC or %ALLOC in RPG you are creating the potential for a memory leak. If you neglect to call DEALLOC or %DEALLOC you've created a memory leak.

What saves RPG (and other languages with support for fixed-length variables) is simply better compiler support for managing common data types thus reducing the need for a programmer to manage storage. That is, it is very uncommon for RPG applications to use ALLOC and DEALLOC but it is very common for C and derivative languages to use their equivalents. Increase the use and you increase the likely-hood of leaks.
