I agree.

We have a lot of control files that are now triggered. At first, the update
programs themselves wrote to an audit file. I pointed out that this was not
acceptable. What about DFU and other file utilities? And you have to
remember to put the auditing in every new update program you create. The
previous method was like measuring rainfall by weighing the earth before and
after it rains.

Triggers are the simplest option, and are, IMO, far more flexible than
journaling.

Actually, I think we should ask.

If we had a better idea of the problem you are trying to solve, maybe a
better solution can be found.

Asking questions in a vacuum may get you an answer ... but often it
won't be the best answer.
