The direction I was rambling was that with PGM A --> PGM B --> PGM C, where PGM A passes a MODS to PGM
B but PGM B has that parm defined as a 1 byte char which it then simply passes to PGM C....

If PGM C tried to use OPDESC, then I'd expect OPDESC to only shown a 1-byte char.

It slipped my mind that OPDESC is only for ILE....thanks for catching it.

I'm not sure that I follow you. What's the catch with operational
descriptors? Wouldn't an opdesc take the same amount of time, no matter
how big the field is?!

Also, yes, OPDESC doesn't work with structures, but... this thread is
about an OPM RPG program. Last I checked, OPDESC only works for ILE
bound calls.
