If the field you are converting is numeric, then you can use

ASDF_ISO = %Date(DATECRT :*ISO);

If it's character and has no separators ('20080428'), then you must use

ASDF_ISO = %Date(DATECRT :*ISO0);

If it's character and has a separator, you should add the separator after
the *ISO:

ASDF_ISO = %Date(DATECRT :*ISO/); // DATECRT = '2008/04/28'
