I had a similar situation here. The user(s) would always walk away and
leave the program up. I ended up making the file USROPN in the update
program and then opened/closed it for each transaction. Fortunately,
there are very few transactions in this file (< 20 day) so the overhead
doesn't bother us. Otherwise I would have pursued other options.
