Interesting ... this is something I haven't actually used yet. I'm going to experiment with it though (once I get back from COMMON of course).

For those of us you who can go to V6R1, you'll have local file definitions available in procedures ... so that point might be mute.


One of the rules for local files in subprocedures is that you _must_ use result data structures for I/O operations. So even for folks that aren't going to V6R1 yet, it might be a good idea to get comfortable with using data structures for I/O.
