You may need to convert the return value from GETPRGDATE to an interger.
But that depends on how it's defined on your procedure interface...

insert into qtemp/testtbl
values(1,INT(GETPRGDATE(180));

Rob,

Tried option 1. No change

2, this is the only function in the table. The only one on the system.
I've done this at other releases, but this client is on V5R1 for now. The

only thing is that it is in QGPL, not ELTEXEDI, but QGPL is in the
library
list, and it's not overloaded with another function.

3. Everything is uppercase.

Re: SQL Function

Initial basics:

Try this:
1 -
insert into qtemp/testtbl
values(1,GETPRGDATE(cast(180 as int)));

2 - Make sure you're not overloaded with:
SELECT substr(ROUTINE_SCHEMA,1,10) as FuncLib,
substr(routine_name,1,10) as FuncName,
substr(specific_schema,1,10) as SpecificFuncLib,
substr(specific_name,1,10) as SpecificFunction,
substr(external_name,1,60) as ExternalName
FROM sysfuncs
where routine_schema='ELTEXEDI'

3 - Check the capitalization, spelling, etc on the subprocedure with
DSPSRVPGM SRVPGM(ELTEXEDI/GETPRGDATE) DETAIL(*PROCEXP)

SQL Function

I have an external SQL Function written in RPG that's giving me fits.

Box is V5R1. No SQL Development tools, so all is RUNSQLSTM. The function

is an RPGLE SRVPGM, one sub-procedure that basically returns a numeric
representation of an YYYYMMDD date which is the current date - the number

of days passed. The service program works as written. Here's what I used
to create the function.

DROP FUNCTION GETPRGDATE;
CREATE FUNCTION GETPRGDATE (INTEGER)
RETURNS INTEGER
EXTERNAL NAME 'ELTEXEDI/GETPRGDATE(GETPRGDATE)'
LANGUAGE RPGLE
NOT DETERMINISTIC
NO SQL;

Here's how I'm testing it.

create table qtemp/testtbl
(field1 integer not null,
field2 integer not null);
insert into qtemp/testtbl
values(1,GETPRGDATE(180));

Here is the result:

FIELD1 FIELD2
000001 1 0

Any idea what I'm missing?

Thanks,

Mark
