If the error is only occurring on a single box, the likelihood is that
the latest PTFs have not been applied.

Thanks for that thought, but the whole problem is the only time the
error occurs is on the client's box in a live production run of a
lengthy processing stream! None of our testers can duplicate it and the
clients can't duplicate it most of the time so it never occurs in a
situation where we might be able to debug. Since it only occurs on one
client's box I think it must be a system thing.

We are on i5/OS, V5R4 - that's where the program was compiled. The
client is on V5R3.

Did you try running this with STRDBG? Running that, and specifying no
program, logs a lot of sql stuff to the job log.
