This is very basic school stuff. The best thing you can do is go to the manuals - they are very clear. First is the DDS manual - the section for display files. You can get there through www.iseries.ibm.com/infocenter then take the V5R4 link, then go to Programming - then DDS - then DDS for Display files - look for the keyword EDTCDE there.

If you click on the menu item "DDS for Display Files", there is a link to the best information - "Application Display Programming" manual.

is the link if you are in a hurry - but I urge you to take the time to find your way through InfoCenter.

Which version of the operating system are you using? Which version of RPG? III or IV? It will help us to be more helpful once we know those things.
