Bite your tongue, Adam. Actually, it's extremely likely that you'll eventually get bitten if you use %date and %time separately when they're representing a "time stamp". If you're lucky, you'll find out that you got bit.

Even if the OP's particular program could never possibly run over midnight, the technique of using separate %date() and %time() will get copied into other programs that will run over midnight.

Apologies to Richard for extending the dreaded "midnight" thread, but using this technique poses a real and deadly problem (assuming it's usually important to have the time somewhere closer than the nearest 24 hours). But my apologies aren't sincere, because it looks like the horse isn't dead yet, given the number of suggestions in this thread to use %date and %time.

Join the ribbon campaign to stamp(!) out the use of %date + %time when they represent a timestamp.
