Wouldn't that add two zeros to the right side?

Doesn't prefix mean left side?

If it's the latter than like Charles said that wouldn't make any sense
since the two numbers are identical. If it's the former you can convert
to character and put the two leading zeroes in that way.

numeric8 = %dec(alpha8:8:0);
